For Veterans - WRIISC Education
When veterans meet with the clinical team for a comprehensive clinical evaluation they are provided with an educational session. This session provides information on specific health concerns as well as training on utilizing the Internet for health and deployment information. The education team also gathers and develops informational materials that are available at the center and will be provided on the Internet.
As part of our effort to improve communication we have applied a particular communication approach, risk communication, to guide us. We utilize this approach in the information we distribute and in developing physician-patient communication techniques for providers to apply in helping patients with illnesses with no known medical cause. Risk communication emphasizes building and maintaining relationships of trust and providing opportunities for dialogue and a two-way exchange of information especially in situations where concerns are high and trust may be low.
